I’m Thomas, founder of About Travel.
My journey into travel began long before I started planning holidays. As a chef, I spent years working aboard luxury yachts and private vessels, travelling extensively throughout Africa and around the world. Those experiences gave me a unique perspective on destinations, cultures, food, hospitality and what truly makes a journey unforgettable.
Back home in South Africa, my wife and I built and and continue to run one of South Africa’s most consistently busy Guest Houses, welcoming visitors from every corner of the globe. Through countless conversations, recommendations and shared stories, I realised that the most memorable trips come from local insight, genuine connections and experiences that go beyond the guidebooks.
Today, I combine my background in hospitality, travel and guest experience to create personalised journeys across Southern Africa. Whether it’s a private safari, a hidden wine farm, a coastal road trip, a food-focused escape or a once-in-a-lifetime celebration, I love matching people with places and experiences that feel authentic, personal and unforgettable.
